BEHOLD THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE ART AND CHARACTERS!
Eina (called Huveea back then for some reason that now eludes me) is the oldest character here by far, and the one most recognizable from the start! I conceived her as some sort of way to express my anger when I couldn’t really bite back, so, she was the very representation of my edgy phase.
The merchant was here as well! But he wasn’t a merchant back then, and much less her father. He was a continuation of one of the characters from Rankor Chronicles, now called Redguy (how imaginative!).
And there’s also the character that was to inspire Ader much, muuuuch later!
The very first Eina ever
Ader’s twice removed ancestor
I tried to make a comic
It was kinda edgy
Still cute I guess :>
Trying to learn how to color stuff when I was 16
Revisited the characters since I wanted to make a videogame with some friends! It was to be called Eyrlum. Eina’s called Eina here, and I was already trying to make expression sheets back then, buuut I didn’t know much about coloring so they were a pain and therefore never finished.
The main character was a farmer, yet another step closer to Ader.
See that cutie pie with the witch hat? …That’s Sep.
She’s always been a cabbage head.
Seriously. She’s Sep.
I was trying to be artsy with the MC here
Some chibies early that year. Accidentally came back to the merchant in a Game of Thrones RP session, the design stuck. Tried my hand at Eina again. For some reason no longer called Eina again.
Lots of chibies from Rankor Chronicles!
Early designs for the Makedar race
I still think this is the best Eina I’ve ever drawn
Eina's always been a bab
Look at the merchant all human and stuff
More merchant art. Found a picture of the characters in a drawer. Tried my hand at them once more. Quit.
Bottom middle, Gyof. Bottom right, Ader. Angry Eina right above.
I briefly considered retaking the game
Found the same picture again in August 2016, and I was decided to bring it back. That’s how I began working on the novel! The characters were… different back then, but definitely recognizable!
Ader v1, SO SCRAWNY
Ader v2, less scrawny, just as ugly
Ader v3, look at that smile!
Ader v4, hitting the gym
He used to be more belligerent
Sep, being innocent and stuff
Sep, turning a lot more malevolent
Sep, entirely too seductive for my heart
Sep was always my favorite
Seriously, I used to draw her all the time
Eina didn’t look very nice at all
And then she turned into a kid
Look at Eina all spaced out.
Eina used to have a giant pet tree. Yes.
Once upon a time this was a different story.
Berbiz, looking like a mouse
Berbiz, looking like a lion
The Merchant looks the same, really.
Look at that jerkass grin :]
Ilegrab is a dad
Characters are pretty much defined and there’s a lot less variation! 2017 was when I finally began working on the VN in June shortly before absolutely wrecking my wrist and being forced to mostly quit my job. So yeah! Enjoy! :>
Ader got a redesign and turned HOT
Their dynamics were kinda different
Attempted to draw Sep’s old introduction in comic format, gave up
I was being dumb and drew this, but then I wanted to make a game
Then I turned into a furry and
Wait, no, too furry, go back.
I found my call in life. And his.
Eina got a redesign and turned 80% cuter
Early 2017, Sep being sp00ky
Then Sep got a redesign
I wanted to paint something bigger and better than I'd ever painted till that date!
Painting important scenes, all serious and stuff
