Visual Novel progress 01/24/2018

Oh gosh, it turns out I’m alive and I just hadn’t updated this blog in 6 months. This is all for Chapter 2 of the VN.

All that’s really left is finishing the script and I’ve been struggling with it for months because I keep insisting on making it perfect and that’s an unattainable goal :,D

Working working! Mostly animations and writing this week!

Expressions

  • Ader – 16 expressions, separated as sprites. One expression yet to be drawn
  • Eina – 14 expressions, separated as sprites
  • Sep’s been redrawn! 12 expressions for now, two outfits!
  • Gyof – 9 expressions, I’m yet to draw his oud oops
  • The Merchant – B&W stage
  • Ilegrab -B&W stage
  • Several extras yet to be drawn at all

Backgrounds

  • Three finished pieces, slums, bazaar and Gyof’s home. About 75% done

CGs

  • Ader meeting Sep for the first time!
  • Working on the animation that plays when the player first encounters Eina

GUI

  • Textbox completed -probably gonna change a few things so it’s aligned left or right as well depending on who’s talking
  • Namebox completed
  • Clock -not yet started
  • Choice buttons completed
  • Several menus and icons -pending on some coding issues

 

PROGRAMMING

 

  • Getting started with the wiki! It’s all barebones for now!
  • Coding a CG album of sorts -not yet started

Expressions

  • Ader’s been redesigned as you can see in the video! – 16 expressions, separated as sprites. One expression yet to be drawn
  • Eina – 14 expressions, separated as sprites
  • Sep – her file’s a mess since she was the first so I’m gonna have to edit a huge chunk of it. Single layer .png’s to be converted into sprites, extra outfits necessary
  • Gyof – 9 expressions, I’m yet to draw his oud oops
  • The Merchant – B&W stage
  • Ilegrab -B&W stage
  • Several extras yet to be drawn at all

So for the sake of updating the site a little and keeping you all informed, here’s a report on the assets for the showcase of the first day of gameplay (a very long day, introducing every mechanic).

  • Ader – 9 expressions, number to be increased. His expressions are made up of a single layer .png, so they need to be converted into sprites
